About this app

Nope. This isn't your run-of-the-mill jump-scare flick. Hello Neighbor is a stealth-horror puzzle game where you snoop through a suspicious neighbor's house to find out what he's hiding in the basement. You do the creeping. The game does the learning. You move, peek, open drawers, climb through windows, and the Neighbor — powered by an adaptive AI — remembers. Do you like that backyard window trick? Expect something to be waiting next time. Sneak in through the front? Cameras might greet you. That's the core loop: try a thing, watch the house change, adapt again. Short sentence. Long sentence that breathes: the house rearranges (sometimes cleverly, sometimes maddeningly), the Neighbor finds new shortcuts, and you are left improvising ways to bypass traps or create distractions. Controls are finger-friendly on mobile (tap to interact, slide to peek, on-screen stick to move). Expect puzzles that mix physics (stack boxes, open vents), stealth (hide in closets, under tables), and a little bit of mischief (set off a toy car to draw him away). Items matter: the wrench, the key, the flashlight — each has a job. The game doesn't hold your hand. Good. Bad. Both. Short aside: I got stuck on the third floor for two hours once (no joke). I thought I found the perfect route. Then—boom—bear trap where my ladder used to be. Learned to laugh. Learned to plan. Learned to save more often. Dialogue: "Me: 'Okay, where did the ladder go this time?' Neighbor (in his usual ominous way): 'You shouldn't be here.'" Pause. Think about that for a second. This isn't a pure action romp. It's sneaky, sly, and sometimes flat-out unfair. Target audience? If you love methodical problem solving, tense hide-and-seek, and a house that fights back — this is for you. If you hate repeating sections or being outsmarted by a game, maybe not. Final note: the mobile port aims to keep the cat-and-mouse feel intact, though performance can vary by device. Expect occasional hiccups, but also those glorious "aha" moments when a plan finally works and you sprint for the basement door (or run like hell).

Editor's Review

I played Hello Neighbor like someone who shouldn't be awake at 2 a.m. — both fascinated and annoyed. I came in thinking: a clever stealth puzzle with a creepy neighbor. I left with a playlist of near-misses and one too many heart-skip moments. First-person: I got jumped by a hidden shortcut that I didn't even know existed — and I yelled at my phone. True story. The AI is the star. It actually learns. That's cool and also, at times, maddening. One run I kept crawling through a vent; next run there was a toolbox waiting. Not predictable. Not forgiving. I like that. But don't expect to breeze through on your first try. It's not casual-friendly in the "do-over-easily" sense. Save points are lifesavers (use them). Dialogues in the game are sparse but effective. I remember muttering out loud: "Dude, why is there a security camera in the kitchen now?" — and the game answered with a new patrol route. The mobile controls mostly hold up, though I had a moment where a jump input didn't register (annoying). Battery drain? Yup—it's a bit hungry when you play long sessions. Critique (gentle): some puzzles feel repetitive after several hours, and the Neighbor's learning can sometimes feel like the game is punishing experimentation rather than rewarding it. That said, the tension is real. The payoff when you finally outsmart him is sweet. I wouldn't call it flawless. I would call it memorable. If you want a chill stroll-through, skip this. If you want a clever little cat-and-mouse that will make you plan, fail, curse, and then grin, give Hello Neighbor a shot. Oh, and bring patience. You'll need it.

Pros

  • Adaptive AI that changes tactics based on your moves — keeps runs fresh.
  • Smart environmental puzzles using physics and item combos (wrench, keys, vents).
  • Strong tension and memorable "aha" moments when a plan finally works.
  • Mobile controls are accessible with responsive touch interaction for sneaking and peeking.

Cons

  • AI learning can feel punitive—repeating sections after resets gets old.
  • Performance and battery usage vary by device; expect occasional stutters.
  • Some puzzles loop stylistically and may feel repetitive over long sessions.
  • Sparse save points in certain runs can be frustrating for casual players.
