About this app
Truck Star throws gem-swapping into the cab and asks you to drive. You play match-3 levels to earn parts, then slap lights, bumpers, and horns onto rigs (yep, actual toys for grown-ups). The game pairs casual level-grinding with a light tycoon layer: buy trailers, upgrade engines, recruit drivers, repeat. Visuals lean glossy; audio hits when you blast a horn you customized yourself—cheesy, but I loved it. I spent a restless evening swapping colors on a chrome bumper and—no lie—felt weirdly proud. Expect frequent updates and events (typical for mobile), and expect some in-app economy nudges too. If you like fiddling with gear between short puzzle runs, this scratches that itch.
Editor's Review
Alright, first things first: I got stuck on a level for two hours. Two. Hours. My fingers cramped. My phone got warm. I yelled at a virtual horn. That's the good part — the match sequences actually hit hard when they click. The sim/tycoon side? Fun. Not deep-paperwork deep, but enough to make you care which paint job you pick (don't judge me). Customization is the star: lights, bumpers, horns — you can make a ridiculous rig and I did (it blinks like a disco truck). Now the flip side. Don't expect a free ride: there are nudges toward in-app purchases and some events feel grindy. Ads show up sometimes (based on genre norms — I inferred this from player chatter and the store model). Performance was solid on my current device, but older phones might cough. Bottom line: if you want casual puzzles with a vehicular ego boost and are okay with paywalls that whisper (and sometimes shove), Truck Star is a late-night time-sink you'll either love or mildly resent. I did both.
Pros
- Tactile, satisfying gem combos that reward setup
- Wide range of visual options for each rig (lights, paint, bumper styles)
- Short session play — great for 10–15 minute bursts
- Regular seasonal events that actually add new parts
Cons
- Progress can feel gated behind timers or currency (expect nudges to spend)
- Level objectives repeat after a while — not hugely varied long-term
- Some UI clutter when managing dozens of vehicles
- Possible performance hiccups on older devices
