About this app

Remember those pocket pets you forgot to feed in middle school? Pou is basically that, only squishier and with more hat options. You take care of a little alien critter: feed it, clean it, play games to earn coins, tinker in a lab with potions, and dress it up in outfits (glasses, hats, the whole circus). Leveling up unlocks wallpapers and items so your Pou stops looking like every other Pou on the block. Simple. How to play: tap to interact—feed when hungry, scrub when dirty, and play the Game Room titles to stack up coins. Coins buy food, clothes, and decorations. The Lab lets you mix potions (some results are delightful, some... tragic). There’s a happiness/energy/hunger loop under the hood that nudges you to come back. You can visit friends and hear your own voice played back by Pou (yes, you can be that weirdo who records themselves singing and then listens in horror). "Me: 'Hey Pou, you okay?'" I recorded it. Pou squeaked it back. (I laughed. Then I questioned my life choices.) This isn’t a hardcore grind. Don’t expect deep strategy. It’s low-pressure and forgiving—perfect for small pockets of time, long commutes, or pretending you have responsibilities. Kids love it. Nostalgia nerds love it. Casual players who like short mini-games will stick around. There’s some nudging toward in-app purchases (coins and bundles), so don’t be surprised if you’re tempted to shortcut a long wait. Also: if you switch phones a lot, check whether your saves travel with you—some versions keep data local. Worth asking before you delete. Pou is not trying to wow you graphically. It’s not trying to be revolutionary. It’s a dependable little companion that will steal your spare minutes, your silly selfies, and—if you let it—your patience. And yeah, I got stuck on a mini-game for two hours once. Worth it? Absolutely chaotic, guilty-pleasure yes.

Editor's Review

I didn’t plan to love Pou. I downloaded it between two boring meetings and then—oops—spent my lunch break feeding a tiny alien and trading hats. The gameplay is absurdly simple: feed, clean, play, repeat. But simplicity is its charm. I mean, I literally recorded myself saying "Good job" and Pou played it back like a tiny, smug robot. That moment made me grin like an idiot. Let me be blunt: this is not a polished AAA experience. The graphics are cartoony and a bit dated. Some mini-games loop until you feel like you’re on a hamster wheel. Ads and in-app purchases are present (so don’t assume everything is free). But here’s the flip—Pou nails what it sets out to do: be a silly, low-stakes pet that asks for attention at weird times. I got frustrated (yes, I rage-pressed the screen when a skill shot missed). I also celebrated when I unlocked a ridiculous outfit (hand sweaty, small victory). Human thing, right? A tiny gripe: cloud saves aren’t obvious across all builds. Don’t expect seamless device hopping unless you check settings first. Also, some mini-games could use a refresh—after a few weeks they feel repetitive. Would I recommend it? If you want something light, oddly affectionate, and quick to pick up—absolutely. If you want depth and complexity—don’t. Try it for a day. If you don’t smile at least once, refund it (kidding—sort of).

Pros

  • Cute, character-driven pet with lots of cosmetic variety
  • Fun bite-sized mini-games that reward coins for upgrades
  • Voice-record and playback feature adds a goofy personal touch
  • Lab potions create surprising (and often hilarious) outcomes
  • Runs smoothly on older devices and is easy to pick up

Cons

  • Mini-games can become repetitive after extended play
  • In-app purchases and timers nudge progression forward
  • Graphics feel dated compared to modern mobile titles
  • Cloud save behavior unclear—check before switching devices
